FINDING SAFETY
Opening your heart, attuning to your body, and reconnecting with the Sacred: Sometimes, amidst the hustle and bustle of life, we may find ourselves drained not just in our personal and relational spheres, but also in our journey towards self-awareness and growth. That's why it's crucial to pause, slow down, and embrace our personal healing and spiritual evolution.
Imagine if your body's innate wisdom could nurture feelings of safety and belonging: While the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychologists and Psychiatrists (DSM-5) offers various diagnostic avenues, our reactions often feel beyond our control. The polyvagal approach recognises that our autonomic nervous system is shaped by our past experiences, yet it also acknowledges that these patterns can be reshaped.
Our human bodies possess remarkable regenerative abilities. Trauma need not leave an indelible mark; we have the capacity to heal fully. Despite our cultural or psychosocial backgrounds, we inherently possess natural mechanisms that facilitate recovery from trauma. The human body can triumph over even the most harrowing experiences, but it requires more than the passage of time. It necessitates understanding our body's innate healing potential and actively nurturing it. Through the process of trauma recovery, we not only overcome past horrors but also emerge as more compassionate and morally attuned individuals. Taking this journey seriously empowers us to lead more enriching lives, often without the reliance on costly medications or extensive professional intervention.
As living beings, our bodies inherently understand resilience and recovery. They've evolved intuitive mechanisms to release the past and embrace new beginnings. Our innate drive compels us to shed what impedes our growth and transition into the next phase of life. Yet, our fears often stem from past traumas, hindering our natural evolution. Releasing this resistance is key to unlocking our energy and fostering internal growth. Only by relinquishing this resistance can we pave the way for healing and transformation.
